Do You Know Why It Is Important to Do Eye Examination?
Some of you must be having very good eyesight and may feel that regular eye examination is not necessary for you. However, you need to understand that eye examination is as important as regular health check-up. Eye is one of the most important organs and our quality of life will always be maintained well if we can maintain better eye health.
I discussed with one eye specialist while he was doing eye exam near me and he told me following few important reasons why we must get our eyes examined regularly. I am sharing those reasons in this article.
- Early detection of any eye disease
As per the data available with the National eye institute, many of the US citizens have been diagnosed with various kinds of eye related issues.
- Glaucoma was found in about 7 million people
- Diabetic retinopathy was also found among 7 million people
- Age-related macular degeneration affects almost 1 million people
- About 24 million people have cataract problem
There are quite a few kinds of eye problems that often do not show any early signs and by the time people complain about their vision problem the situation must have already aggravated and the disease may be in advanced stage. However, during any comprehensive examination, an experienced eye doctor can easily identify your signs of any imminent problem so that early treatment is possible.
- Vision problem can be detected
There can be changes in your eyesight if you are in your 40s.
- Astigmatism, nearsightedness and farsightedness
During this age this thing changes, as you age and if you are already using then you need to change the power of your lens. You may also develop certain problems and may need laser surgery too.
- Amblyopia
This problem cannot be detected if you look in the mirror but only during examination. The condition of one eye may be different from the other and may need correction.
- Focusing
Often children as well as adults may not be able to focus while reading or seeing any object.
- Teaming
If both the eyes do not work together then you may experience eye strain or headache and also struggle to read properly.
- Strabismus
It will prevent you to decide exact depth and if it is not timely addressed then amblyopia may develop.
- Health concerns
Doctors can also predict certain health related problems like high blood pressure, high cholesterol or diabetes etc. by checking the eyes.
